Hail damage roof repair
Hail damage roof repair for North Texas homes.
We document every impact. Meet your adjuster on the roof. And get your roof — and your claim — approved.
Collin County averages 3–5 damaging hail events per year. If you've owned a Plano home for more than five years, you've had hail on your roof — the only question is how much. Most homeowners don't know they have damage until an insurance-covered replacement window has already closed. That's what this page is for.
What hail damage actually looks like on a roof
Hail damage on asphalt shingles is often invisible from the ground. From the roof it looks like a scatter of dark, round bruises where the impact knocked the protective granules loose. The mat underneath is exposed. UV degrades it. Within a season or two the shingle fails.

What an adjuster is actually looking for in your photos
A claim lives or dies on documentation. Two things carry the most weight, and both of them are things you can see in our own job photos rather than a stock illustration.
Granule loss, measured at the gutter. Asphalt shingles shed a little grit their whole life. What matters is volume and pattern — a heavy wash concentrated below one slope after a storm reads very differently than even, slow aging across the whole roof. We photograph the gutter face, the trough, and the splash zone at the downspout, on every elevation, so the pattern is on the record.
The condition of the deck underneath. Nobody knows what's under the shingles until the old layers come off. Once the tear-off is done we walk the bare deck, mark any soft or delaminated sheathing, pull the loose nails, and photograph it before a single square of underlayment goes down. If a section has to be replaced, you see the photo of it first — not a line item you have to take on faith.

The hail damage checklist
Walk your yard (not your roof — that's our job). Look for:
- Dented gutters and downspouts — the easiest tell. If your gutters have dings, your roof does too.
- Dented metal roof vents, turbines, and A/C fins.
- Shredded window screens or splits in wood fence tops.
- Dark spots on the driveway where oil or paint was chipped off cars or grills.
- Granules in the downspout splash zone — small black grit like coarse sand.
- Neighbors with roofing crews on their block. The storm didn't skip your house.
Homebase's hail damage process
- Free inspection. We climb the roof, chalk-mark every impact, and photograph each slope. You get a written report.
- Adjuster meeting. We meet your insurance adjuster on the roof and walk them through the damage — square by square. Most claims get approved on the first visit when a roofer is there.
- Supplement and scope. If the initial scope is short, we submit supplements with photos and code references. This is where storm-chaser outfits give up and homeowners lose money. We don't.
- Replacement. Most Plano homes finish in one day. Manufacturer warranty stays intact. Ten-year workmanship warranty on us.
- Final paperwork. We help you get the depreciation back from your insurance after the job is done.

Most homeowners have never filed a roof claim. It's not hard — but the wrong first move costs real money. Here's the short version:
- Get a free inspection before calling insurance.
- Confirm you have real damage in writing.
- File the claim — carrier will assign an adjuster.
- We meet the adjuster on your roof, together.
- Once approved, we schedule the replacement and handle the rest.
The long version lives on our insurance claim assistance page — worth a read if this is your first claim.
