Roofing in Murphy, TX.

Twenty minutes east of our Alma Drive office — and we know which Murphy streets got hit and which didn't.

Murphy is a small city with a very particular roofing profile: most of it went up in one long building wave between 1999 and 2010. That means thousands of Murphy homes are sitting on their first or second roof right now, installed with builder-grade three-tab or early architectural shingles that are well past the age where hail does permanent damage instead of cosmetic damage.

Murphy neighborhoods we work in

We're regularly on roofs in Murphy Farms, Rolling Ridge, Brookside Estates, The Reserve, Whitfield, Maxwell Creek (the Murphy-facing side), and the older homes along FM 544 and Betsy Lane. The larger two-story homes off McCreary and Betsy tend to have steep 8/12 and 10/12 pitches with multiple valleys — those roofs need more labor and more valley protection than a comparable Plano ranch, and any quote that treats them the same is guessing.

What Murphy roofs deal with

Murphy sits on the southeast edge of the Collin County hail corridor. Storms that roll through Wylie and Sachse usually clip Murphy on their way, which is why we see a lot of directional wind damage here — one or two slopes badly creased while the rest of the roof looks untouched. It's the kind of damage homeowners miss entirely from the driveway, and the kind adjusters underpay if nobody walks each slope separately.

The other Murphy pattern: mature trees. The older neighborhoods have large oaks and elms close to the house, so limb strikes and clogged valleys are common. Debris sitting in a valley holds water against the shingle and rots the decking underneath long before the shingle itself fails.

Murphy permits and HOAs

The City of Murphy requires a permit for a full roof replacement, and inspectors do come out. Most Murphy HOAs want shingle color approved before the tear-off starts. We pull the permit and file the HOA paperwork as part of the job — there's nothing for you to chase.

What a Murphy job looks like

  • Free inspection with a written report and full photo set, usually within 48 hours.
  • If it's a claim, we meet your adjuster on the roof and document every slope.
  • Tear-off, decking repair, new underlayment, valley protection, and shingles — most Murphy homes finish in one day.
  • Magnet sweep of the drive, lawn, and flower beds before the crew leaves.
